NOFX – Self/Entitled – Review
While other “pioneers” of the punk genre (ie. Green Day) are crying and smashing guitars like spoiled rock musicians over shortened set times, there is another breed of musician abound that has never been tainted by selling out or “buying in” to riches. While some bands gained wide mass appeal and became married to a major label, those with intelligence and integrity stayed around making the music they wanted for themselves and never forgot where they came from or who they play for. All this of course leads to the independent punk label, Fat Wreck Chords owner Fat Mike and his modern punk trail blazers NOFX, who have consistently bought home grown punk to the niche masses for damn near 30 years. Recently the group released their twelfth studio album “Self/Entitled” to awaiting fans. read more

Teenage Bottlerocket – Freak Out! – Review
If there happens to be an album with a skull with bisecting arrows in some random color featured on some store’s shelf, there’s little doubt that it comes from the WY-based, four-piece punk band, Teenage Bottlerocket. The group has released five full-lengths, each complete with that logo and a specific color to set the tone of the record (green, pink, yellow, black, etc.) The latest of which is the fourteen track effort, “Freak Out!,” which was produced and mixed by Andrew Berlin earlier this year, featuring the most nauseating of all the color spectrum, pink.

Tony Sly & Joey Cape – Acoustic Volume Two – Review
It’s been almost eight years since Tony Sly (No Use For A Name) and Joey Cape (Lagwagon) set aside extra time from touring and recording with their respective bands, to come together and release an fully acoustic split of sorts. “Acoustic” shared twelves songs total of both NUFAN and Lagwagon stripped-down acoustic covers of such hits like “Violins,” “Not Your Savior” and “Move The Car.” With this new split, aptly titled “Acoustic Volume Two” Tony and Joey are at it once again, leaving behind their electric six-strings for a more raw and stripped-down agenda. read more
