As I Lay Dying – Awakened – Review
Everyone guard their genitals, Tim Lambesis and his group of nefarious characters in As I Lay Dying are back in a recording studio. Rebounding from the several tours supporting their previous studio album “The Powerless Rise,” and the act’s well-received greatest hits record, “Decas,” the group has shacked up with producer Bill Stevenson (NOFX, Useless ID, The Bouncing Souls) to work on new material (abandoning Adam D. in the process and causing me great sadness). The result is the San Diego, CA-native’s sixth full-length “Awakened” which has an album cover that reminds me of John Baizley‘s work with Baroness and Darkest Hour, and has a sound that is more melodic, in voice and instruments, than previous outings. read more
