New Found Glory – Not Without A Fight – 2nd Review
Release Date: March 9th, 2009
Record Label: Epitaph Records
Genre: Pop Punk
It’s hard for a lot of bands to continue making great music, this is not a case for New Found Glory. Would I call “Not Without A Fight” mind blowing? Maybe. Life changing? Depends. Ground breaking? Quite possibly. One thing is for sure New Found Glory have been pioneers for the punk/rock scene for years, they have revived our favorite genres time and time again. With “Not Without A Fight” the case is the same, just when you think you’ve heard everything and nothing new is being generated from the millions upon millions of bands that flood Myspace daily, New Found Glory lets their Epitaph debut sweep you up and never lets go.
On “Not Without A Fight” New Found Glory takes the best of their previous worlds and melt them together into their best work to date. Jordan Pundik‘s voice is right on with each subtle change in music. New Found Glory are the masters of layering on new sounds and textures to each song in such a way that it is not a distraction, but instead helps to draw you in with each new listen. The album flows so well, you can put it on repeat and not worry about getting sick of it. If you are a true NFG fan, you will love this album. If you think their previous work was interesting, but wanted something better, then you should definitely pick this up. If you have no idea what NFG sounds like, or who they are, then don’t pass GO, don’t collect $200 and go straight to jail. Or maybe you should just start with “Not Without A Fight“, then after you are thoroughly impressed and want more, buy the rest of their stuff in chronological order. Don’t worry, it’s worth the money spent.
Good music will always keep my attention, and New Found Glory have gripped me with a strong hold. Each second evolves as they let their sound alter form. If you have a pulse, you will be more than moved and intrigued by “Not Without A Fight.” If you are looking for a band that doesn’t sound like every other band out there and always keep it simple yet fun, with lyrics that force you to think, I implore you to add this punk/rock gem to your list of must have albums in the near future. ~Staff
