Cowboys Ruin Everything
Job For A Cowboy has completed work on their sophomore album, entitled “Ruination” which will hit stores in July through Metal Blade Records.
The follow up to the quintet’s celebrated debut album Genesis, Ruination was recorded at Audio Hammer Productions in Sanford, FL with Producer Jason Suecof (The Black Dahlia Murder) and will be mixed by acclaimed audio authority Fredrik Nordstrom (At The Gates, Opeth). Ruination marks the Job For A Cowboy recording debut of drumming prodigy Jon “The Charn” Rice, who has toured with the band since the release of Genesis and features ten tracks of state-of-the-art heavy metal music.
Ruination sees Job For A Cowboy advance by leaps and bounds; the record is a concentrated hotbed of astounding dexterity, scorching attack, sleek arrangement and thundering musical muscle. Infectious riffs, keen dynamics and the assertive vocals of rising star front man Jonny Davy combine to produce an album that is at once powerful, expressive, confident and commanding. The New York Times referred to Job For A Cowboy‘s sound as “brute-force”, a commendatory claim that Ruination unquestionably validates.
On the topic of the new album, Job For A Cowboy front man Jonny Davy states, “Job For A Cowboy has toured the world and faced a ton of challenges over the course of the last year and a half. All of the hard work that we’ve put in and everything that we’ve experienced is directly reflected in our new songs, which we know are our best yet. Stay tuned.”
Upon the release of Ruination, Job For A Cowboy will hit the road as one of the featured acts of the 2009 “ROCKSTAR Energy Mayhem Festival” alongside Slayer, Marilyn Manson and more. The 27-date North American march is slated to launch on July 10 in Sacramento, CA.
In the two short years since the release of the band’s full length debut, Job For A Cowboy (JFAC) has progressed from “the band with the different name” to one of the leading lights for heavy music in the 21st century. The quintet has toured the world to out-and-out acclaim, highlighted by main stage appearances at distinguished music jubilees such as the UK’s Download Festival and Germany’s Wacken Open Air. JFAC delivered scintillating live performances as handpicked support to metal titans Megadeth (on both its North American and UK “Gigantour” treks) and co-headlined the highly successful “Radio Rebellion” tour with Polish metal champions Behemoth.
Referred to as “the most anticipated debut release from a metal band in years”, and released in North America on May 18, 2007, JFAC’s Genesis landed at # 54 on Billboard’s Top 200 chart in its first week of release; becoming at that time the highest charting metal debut to crack the Billboard register since Slipknot’s 1999 self-titled album. The band would go on to earn a landslide of top media accolades including being named one of Alternative Press’ “Bands You Need to Know”, “Best Underground Band” at the Metal Hammer “Golden Gods Awards”, one of Revolver’s “Breakthrough Bands that will be Kicking Your Ass this Year” and one of Total Guitar’s “Hottest Guitar Bands”.
