Echo Screen – Goodbye Old Life EP – Review

Posted by Staff on July 12, 2009 – 6:51 pm -

echoRelease Date: August 4th, 2009
Record Label: ES Music
Genre: Indie

Around 3 years ago, Echo Screen released their first full-length album “Euphoria” to an awaiting crowd of enthused listeners yearning for the next emerging artist. It was a sturdy record that housed a few jems, but in the end was more of a placeholder for what Echo Screen had the potential to do. Enter the three pieces latest EP “Goodbye Old Life.” Maybe the title refers to the bands 2008 unsure hiatus, or the fact this guys were able to have their effort produced by Ace Enders (The Early November), either way though, Echo Screen is tossing the old out on its ass and welcoming in the new. The Lonely H – Concrete Class – Review

Posted by Staff on July 10, 2009 – 8:02 pm -

Release Date: June 9th, 2009
Record Label: The Control Group Records
Genre: Classic Rock

Don’t visit their MySpace page. You will be jaded, as I was. It is littered with Lynyrd Skynyrd-wannabe photographs: Lenses having been angled to induce drunkenness via perception and brown-glass whiskey bottles fight to keep contents from spilling out. Whatever the band members are looking at out of range of the camera is so humorous that arms have flown around one another, and one leg each is unavoidably catapulted into the air. Tight jeans, longer hair, and leather vests over half-buttoned shirts dominate. The band lists rifles as a musical influence. Read more »

BrokeNCYDE – I’m Not A Fan..But The Kids Like It! – Review

Posted by Staff on July 9, 2009 – 2:19 am -

Release Date: June 16th, 2009
Record Label: Break Silence Records
Genre: Crunkcore

Seeing that I was bushed one night and was looking for something to take my anger out on, I thought I should release my anger on something that deserved it for once. Enter Albuquerque, NM’s four-piece “crunkcore” band brokeNCYDE. Now I have weighed the hype for and (overwhelming) against the band and its “music.” After the release of the groups earlier EP “BC13,” a full-length was inevitable. Then spawned brokeNCYDE‘s new record “I’m Not A Fan..But The Kids Like It!” which was met with harsh words from critics and I must confess, there will be some from me too. Read more »
