Nails – Unsilent Death – Mini Review

If you are not ready for nailgun to the face, you might not be ready for Nails. This sludgy grind outfit is at it again with their latest “full length” entitled Unsilent Death out on Six Feet Under Records. This full length feels more like an EP with ten tracks only hitting just under fourteen minutes. Sure it is grind, but there are limits to what you want to tag as a full length. With the album being so short I will break this down very simply. The good, solid grinding hardcore, being at the crux of either genre. The band delivers an intense assault of tracks with no bullshit. So basically if you like sludgy hardcore or grindcore and like assaulting people in drawn out sludgy breakdowns aka “Depths,” which I am sure has left some people with some broken noses by now; Unsilent Death is obvious pick up for you. The bad, sub par recording quality which meshes everything together sure it’s the nature of the beast but sometimes a little cleanliness even within sludgy blistering fast passages would serve the record well. All in all its as relentless as you can get for under fifteen minutes but than its over and your left wanting more and kind of bummed at the same time. ~James Terry
