Swamp Thing – In Shame – Review

Release Date: March 17th, 2009
Record Label: 6131 Records
Genre: Hardcore

Thirteen tracks of blistering hardcore that barely clocks in at an average of a minute and fifteen seconds a song or so create Swamp Thing’s newest effort, In Shame. The Richmond based hardcore band’s debut “full length” shows them to be a harsh, venomous hardcore band in the vein of Outbreak or Trash Talk. In typical hardcore album fashion, the whole record is over in the blink of an eye if you’re not paying attention. At less than twenty minutes, this record is barely considered a full length. read more

Trigger The Bloodshed – The Great Depression – Review

Release Date: April 14th, 2009
Record Label: Metal Blade Records
Genre: Death Metal

Shortly after releasing their debut full-length “Purgation” last year, they began recording for this sophomore effort. Think things are lighter on the other side of the pond? Well like many Death Metal/Deathcore bands, Trigger The Bloodshed, is ready to show no mercy. read more

Caravan Of Thieves – Bouquet – Review

Release Date: 2009
Record Label: None
Genre: Gypsy Jazz

To put it bluntly and from the very beginning, Caravan Of Thieves is not the sort of music that you can just jump right into. I would like to think that I am a journeyman when it comes to all things rock, indie, folk; but even I had to sit and prepare myself for this rag tag group of fours latest album “Bouquet.” Listed as “Acoustic, Swing, and Other” on their Myspace, you might not be able to properly imagine what they actually sound like. And while I will say that I applaud the passion and personal dedication that went into its making, it just might be too off the beaten path for most to consider it over say, anything else. read more
