Avantasia – Lost In Space: Part 1 & 2 – Review

When Tobias Sammet isn’t prancing around stage supporting Edguy‘s latest tour and new record, he finds time to funnel ideas together for his solo side project Avantasia. This isn’t a newborn venture however and during the decade it’s been around, there have been 3 full lengths, several compilations and an EP or two. “Lost In Space: Part 1 & 2” is the repackaging of two former EPs into one release. Now that I think about it, rightfully this isn’t really a solo group because no matter how much energy Tobias has, each record seems to have about 4 different people laying down tracks and 2 touring members. Plainly, each effort (beyond the vocals) tends to have a different sound and attitude and since I was able to check out Avantasia‘s recent full length “The Scarecrow,” going back to hear their Lost Space EPs was going to be interesting. read more
